Which asbestos type is historically used in insulation products?

Chrysotile, commonly referred to as "white asbestos," is the type historically used in a variety of insulation products. While Amosite, Crocidolite, and Anthophyllite are also types of asbestos, they were not as prevalent in insulation applications. Amosite, known as "brown asbestos," was often used in insulation but to a lesser extent compared to chrysotile. Crocidolite, or "blue asbestos," was used mainly in specific applications like high-temperature insulation but is less common overall. Anthophyllite was used less frequently and primarily in mixed products rather than as a major insulation component.
